The current Nebraska football QB commitment in 2024, Daniel Kaelin, is reportedly taking a visit to Michigan State.
Things have changed abruptly for Nebraska football in the 2024 class when it comes to quarterback recruiting. Daniel Kaelin has been committed for months and there was no reason to believe that would change ahead of Early National Signing Day next week.
However, on Monday, Steve Wiltfong projected five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, the top target for the Huskers before Kaelin committed, to flip from Georgia to Nebraska football.
On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Dylan Raiola was going to take an official visit this weekend, plus there seems to be plenty of buzz on Twitter about a commitment in the 2024 class.
Some have speculated it could be a three-star offensive lineman, which would make sense, but posts on X like the one put out by Tyson Terry make it seem like Matt Rhule has earned a major pledge in 2024, which has to be Raiola.
It was reported by Pete Thamel that Nebraska football would honor the commitment of Daniel Kaelin, even if Raiola flipped from Georgia. But now, according to Mike Schaefer, Kaelin will visit Michigan State this weekend.
What this visit means for Nebraska and Dylan Raiola
That’s pretty telling about where the Huskers stand with Raiola. I firmly believe that he will be committing this weekend if he hasn’t already and signing with Nebraska next Wednesday.
This report only validates that further. I was hoping that Nebraska would be able to keep Kaelin in the fold. He’s a talented, Elite 11 quarterback who I believe is better than his three-star rating.
But you can understand not wanting to be part of a two-quarterback class. Michigan State could be a good opportunity although Aidan Chiles could be going there, so getting on the field in East Lansing won’t be easy if the top-ranked QB in the transfer portal winds up there.
But Kaelin deserves to look around and with that visit, my confidence in Raiola becoming a Husker is only going up.
