Nebraska football could be in jeopardy of losing the commitment of Carter Nelson since he’s visiting Notre Dame.

We have talked about Notre Dame being a threat to flip Nebraska football commitment Carter Nelson and on Saturday, we learned how real that threat could be.

There were reports recently that Notre Dame tried to get Nelson to visit for the game against Ohio State but that Nelson rebuffed those offers.

However, Nelson was spotted at Notre Dame’s game against USC, and On3 reporter Kyle Kelly has confirmed that Nelson is taking an unofficial visit to see the Fighting Irish.

How worried should Nebraska football fans be?

I’m not going to sugarcoat things, I’m worried. Nelson doesn’t seem like the type to take a visit if he wasn’t serious and Notre Dame was always a school that he seemed to have an affinity for.

Georgia became the No. 1 rival after Nelson took a visit to Athens and got projected to the Bulldogs. He also visited Notre Dame but committed to Nebraska football during his official visit.

Yet, the Irish haven’t given up. They have continued to recruit Nelson, who has been dominant for Ainsworth this season. Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule paid a visit to see Nelson this week, during the bye week, so the Huskers aren’t taking anything for granted.

We’ll have to see what the buzz is on the Notre Dame side of things after this visit, but maybe there was something to Nebraska’s recent flip of Eric Ingwerson, who is also a tight end.

Some speculated that the flip could have been about Nelson going elsewhere and now that this visit has been reported, it feels like more of a reality.
