Monday was a great day for Nebraska basketball as the Cornhuskers rallied past Arizona State to win their first-round game in the College Basketball Crown.

Yet, Tuesday could be even better if Nebraska basketball insider Robin Washut is correct about his prediction. The Husker Online insider has placed a prediction for Iowa transfer Pryce Sandfort to land with Nebraska basketball and it could happen as early as Tuesday.

The commitment could take longer than that. Yet, Washut did place the prediction, which is the most important thing. Illinois was in the mix after a recent visit. Ohio State was supposed to get a visit, however, Washut reports that that trip has been canceled.

There was some buzz about a potential return to Iowa, yet, Fred Hoiberg and Nebraska basketball recruited Sandfort hard out of high school. He was a top priority then and has easily been the top target in the transfer portal so far for the Huskers, who are now 18-14 on the season.

Hoiberg said that Nebraska basketball needed to add 3-point shooting this offseason, and Sandfort would fill that need in a big way. He only averaged 8.8 points per game for Iowa last season, but played just 24 minutes a night.

The biggest highlight is that he connected on 56 3-pointers and shot 40 percent. He also shot 34 percent as a true freshman. The 6-foot-7 junior-to-be also grabbed 2.9 rebounds per game in addition to 1.3 assists.

The Huskers have a few openings in the starting lineup, but Sandfort could slide right into Juwan Gary’s old spot and would add another sharpshooter, along with Connor Essegian, to a lineup that should also include Rienk Mast and Berke Büyüktuncel.

Add a dynamic point guard and that’s a pretty solid starting point.
