Nebraska basketball is still on the bubble in the latest bracketology, while the Huskers women are trending up.

There are six games left in the regular season for Nebraska basketball. The Huskers are 17-8 overall as well as 7-7 in the Big Ten following the win over Michigan on Saturday.

While that win was impressive, it didn’t do much to improve the resume for Nebraska basketball. The Huskers are still projected in the NCAA tournament field, but according to ESPN’s Joe Lundari, the Huskers are still among the last four teams to receive a bye (avoiding the first four).

That assumes that Nebraska basketball is one of the last eight teams in the NCAA tournament field, meaning the Huskers still have work to do. They have home games against Penn State, Minnesota, and Rutgers, as well as road games against Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio State.

The Huskers likely need to win four of those six games to feel comfortable. However, Lunardi is projecting Nebraska to play in Omaha, which would be a huge advantage. Fred Hoiberg’s team is projected to make the Field of 68 in 92 of 94 bracketology projections according to Bracket Matrix.

Nebraska women’s basketball trends up

As you’d expect, the Nebraska women’s basketball team jumped two seed lines following the upset win over Iowa. The Huskers were projected as a No. 10 seed in the last women’s bracketology, but after a road win over Michigan, another bubble team, as well as the upset over Caitlin Clark and Iowa, Nebraska is now a No. 8 seed.

The Huskers are projected in the same bracket as South Carolina, which is less than ideal, but as a No. 8 seed, you’re going to face an elite team in the round of 32 if you win. So Nebraska would do well to improve their resume, which they could with a win over second-ranked Ohio State on the road Wednesday (6 PM CST).
