Scott Frost isn’t the only suitor for a Nebraska football commitment, but Huskers have options

UCF, coached by former Nebraska football coach Scott Frost, is one of two serious contenders to flip a Huskers commitment in 2027.

Nebraska football has 11 commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, but as everyone knows, there’s a long time between now and Early National Signing Day.

Some teams have already started coming after some of Nebraska’s top commitments. Ohio State tried to get Trae Taylor on campus for a visit. Miami also tried to get Tory Pittman to visit.

Those programs, along with others, such as LSU in the case of Pittman, will probably keep pushing. The good news is that the Huskers have likely invested resources in those players already (NIL) to keep them committed, or making it more difficult for them to decommit.

That’s not going to stop every player from flipping. One who committed this spring, three-star Kaden Howard, has been wavering since he made his pledge.

Scott Frost and UCF made a push after his commitment to Nebraska football. Howard is 5-foot-10, 160. He runs the 100-meter dash in 10.6. He offers the kind of speed that Nebraska could use in the receiver room.

Howard is expected to take an official visit to Lincoln. He’s also going to take an official visit to UCF, while Georgia Tech is also expected to get an official visit now. The Yellow Jackets have been rising in this recruitment and are another threat.

The Miami Palmetto product visited Miami this spring, too. However, it’s Georgia Tech and UCF that have secured official visits from the Nebraska commitment.

That’s less than ideal. However, the Huskers are poised to land four-star wideout Matthew Gregory. He’s ranked 97th overall via the Rivals Industry Rankings, and Nebraska has a 92 percent chance to get his commitment according to the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Howard, ranked No. 778 in the 2027 class has caused Nebraska to have othe options on the board such as Khalil Taylor (No. 81 overall) and Isaiah Alvarez (No. 630 overall, 6-0, 175) out of Pittsburgh and New Jersey, who are also scheduled to be on campus for official visits, so if Howard flips, the Huskers have plenty of options to work with.
