What a night in Minneapolis for Nebraska basketball. Keisei Tominaga went off and so did the entire Husker squad in a demolition of Indiana in the Big Ten quarterfinals.

Tominaga was credited with 23 points. He knocked down four triples and a bunch of step-back jumpers. He nearly had the roof blown off the Target Center with the roars from Nebraska basketball fans, and frankly, fans from other teams, who got caught up in Keisei fever.

The dude is an international star. It’s been awesome to see and hopefully, Nebraska basketball can keep it going on Saturday against Illinois (2:30 CST, CBS). It’s hard to believe the Huskers are one win from playing for the Big Ten championship.

Fred Hoiberg comments on Trev Alberts leaving

It’s also not hard to believe because of Fred Hoiberg. Following the win, the Nebraska basketball head coach was asked about Trev Alberts’ departure, here’s what he said:

“I wish Trev the best in his new journey. I’m confident that the leadership will find a really good replacement that will do a great job leading the athletic department. “I’m all-in on this place. I love it. I hope we can continue to have success, sustained success, at Nebraska. There’s no doubt that we can do it with the fan support, with the facilities that we have. “This is a place that is really special. It’s gonna attract a really good leader for our athletic department. Again, I wish Trev the best, but we’ve got a job to do right now. And we’re focused — you could see that today with our guys. It’s gotta continue. Hopefully, we come out and play well again tomorrow. We’re gonna have to.”

It’s great to hear that Fred Hoiberg is all in. Matt Rhule seems all in too, so maybe we shouldn’t be that worried about Alberts leaving. Two of Nebraska’s elite head coaches don’t seem concerned. As Trev said, “It is what it is.”

Nebraska basketball bracketology updates

ESPN updated its bracketology projections on Saturday morning and Nebraska basketball is now a No. 8 seed. The Huskers are projected to play in Memphis against Dayton. The winner would likely get top-seeded Houston. But after last night, and seven wins in eight games, Houston might be upset with a No. 8 seed like Nebraska in its bracket. With a top-40 offense and defense, via Kenpom, Nebraska is dangerous.

Nebraska is included in all 115 brackets tracked by Bracket Matrix and the average seed for the Huskers is eight which could change with a win over Illinois in the Big Ten semifinals.

The Nebraska women’s basketball team is holding firm as a No. 8 seed. ESPN has the Cornhuskers going to South Carolina and a first-round win would mean a matchup with the Gamecocks.

Diamond roundup for Nebraska Cornhuskers

With wins by the softball and baseball teams, it was a solid day all around for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. There was also a little drama as Samantha Bland hit a walk-off, two-run home run to give Nebraska softball an 11-10 win over North Dakota. Bland, a freshman, went 4-for-5 at the dish with three RBI, two doubles, and a home run for the 14-12 Huskers.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team improved to 11-5 on the season with a 7-6 win over Nicholls. Nebraska allowed four of the six runs surrendered in the seventh and eighth innings, nearly surrendering the lead late, but Drew Christo got the win after allowing just two runs in five innings pitched. He added five strikeouts. Josh Caron led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and a career-high five RBI.
