If there is one player Nebraska football can’t afford to lose to the transfer portal, it’s quarterback Dylan Raiola.

Raiola hasn’t entered the transfer portal and there hasn’t been any indication that he will. However, there was a report from Chris Hummer of 247 Sports on Monday that teams such as Alabama and Miami are looking at Raiola as a potential target who could enter the portal.

“Raiola is someone several teams are keeping an eye on as a portal candidate, per multiple sources across various fronts. There’s been some worry around Nebraska he may depart,” Hummer wrote.

That doesn’t mean that Raiola has expressed interest or even communicated with those programs. It’s not surprising that other teams are reaching out to his camp. Those conversations are happening across college football but no one close to the program has suggested he’s going into the portal anytime soon.

Could it happen?

Yes. It feels like anything is possible in this new era of college football. It would be ignorant to say it couldn’t happen. I’m not worried though.

There’s no point in worrying. If it happens, it will be in the blink of an eye.

I’m skeptical though. Raiola has been at bowl practices, except for an excused absence to watch his brother play. His family is on staff at Nebraska and his brother is committed in the 2026 class.

It’s a little concerning that the rumor is getting out there — sometimes rumors have legs but there has only been one reporter suggesting it, so again, I wouldn’t worry yet.

Besides, if there were inklings that Raiola was going to transfer, you’d think Daniel Kaelin would stick around.

Do I think Miami and Alabam want Raiola to transfer? Yes, but I don’t believe he’s considering it. Call me crazy.

Update: Dylan Raiola posted he is “all in” on his Instagram with a picture of him in a Nebraska uniform, so he’s not going anywhere.

Keona Davis leaves Nebraska football for transfer portal

The one notable departure on Monday for Nebraska football was defensive end Keona Davis. He didn’t even get a scholarship coming out of high school but flashed a ton of potential in 2024.

At 6-foot-5, 255 pounds, Davis played in 11 games registering nine tackles and a tackle for loss. He was expected to compete for playing time next season, especially after a slew of defensive line departures but he’s the latest since Tony White and Terrance Knighton departed for Florida State.

While Davis didn’t have a ton of production last season, he was poised for a big leap and might be one of the biggest transfer portal departures up to this point.

Huskers identity transfer portal targets

Nebraska football is clearly targeting wide receivers in the portal and former Kentucky standout Dane Key is one to monitor. His former wide receivers coach with the Wildcats is now on staff and Nebraska is expected to be in the mix according to Pete Nakos of On3.com.

Johntay Cook, formerly of the Texas Longhorns, will be visiting Nebraska according to Sean Callahan of Husker Online. He was a five-star coming out of high school. Nebraska also extended an offer to cornerback Raion Strader from Miami (OH) who had 53 tackles, 2 INTs, and an NCAA-leading 18 PBUs last season.

He’s got two years of eligibility left. Cornerback and wide receiver are two of the biggest needs for Nebraska and so far, the Huskers have been aggressive trying to fill them.
