One of the top in-state targets for Nebraska football in the 2024 class, Chase Loftin, has scheduled another visit, plus more in-state recruiting buzz.

Nebraska football has been active on the recruiting trail, even though it’s technically a dead period for college football recruiting.

The dead period just means coaches can’t recruit players in person. But that’s ending soon and Nebraska football already has a bunch of visits set up for 2025 recruits in March and April.

One of the top targets on the board for Nebraska is Chase Loftin. The 6-foot-5 tight end from Millard South (Omaha) is ranked 355th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s ranked second among recruits in the state of Nebraska.

Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Miami, Florida State, Auburn, Kansas State, Iowa State, and a number of other programs have offered. Loftin also attended Junior Day at Alabama, but the Tide haven’t offered yet.

The good news is that Loftin has taken six visits to Nebraska football already and he’ll take a seventh on March 24th. He’s also slated to visit Oklahoma for the fourth time this month and the Sooners feel like one of the biggest threats, yet it also feels like the Huskers are still in the pole position.

Nebraska battling Kansas for in-state athlete Jackson Carpenter

Another in-state priority for the Huskers is Jackson Carpenter, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete out of Lincoln. He’s being recruited by Garrett McGuire and is expected to be a wideout for Nebraska football.

Nebraska extended a scholarship offer in January, then started trending with some crystal ball projections to land the fourth-ranked player in the state via 247 Sports.

At this point, Carpenter, who ran the 100-meter dash in 10.75 as a sophomore, is down to Nebraska football and Kansas. The expert projections favor the Huskers and with the way that Matt Rhule has recruited the state over the past two recruiting cycles, I’d be surprised if Kansas won out here.

But a decision feels like it’s coming sooner rather than later and If I had a crystal ball, it would be for the Big Red.
