Not long ago, we talked about the possibility of Nebraska football flipping four-star tight end Chase Loftin from Florida State.
The Seminoles, one season after going undefeated in the regular season on their way to winning the ACC championship, have fallen on hard times.
After another loss on Saturday to Miami, Florida State is guaranteed to have a losing season after falling to 1-7. The Noles are 1-6 in the ACC and it has made Loftin, a former top target of the Nebraska football program, rethink his commitment.
Out of Millard South in Omaha, Loftin, who committed to Florida State back in July, is planning a visit to Nebraska football next weekend for the UCLA game according to Greg Smith of Rivals.
The visit is telling for Nebraska football
Ranked No. 356 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, the 6-foot-6, 215-pound tight end is the second-ranked prospect in the state of Nebraska for the 2025 class.
Loftin visited Nebraska a bunch of times during his recruitment. Head coach Matt Rhule made him a priority from the early days of his time as the head coach. However, Florida State, which appeared to be a perennial playoff contender just last offseason, was able to beat out the Huskers.
However, that appears to be changing. Kansas State and Texas A&M were two other programs in the mix. Texas A&M could be a team to watch too. However, it felt like only a matter of time before the Huskers got back into it with Loftin and right now, if I had to make a prediction, I’d give the edge to the Huskers.
Loftin knows what a visit to Nebraska means and I think that tells us a lot about his intentions.
