Nebraska football is set to lose its top defensive linemen, Nash Hutmacher and Ty Robinson to the NFL draft. Both players are out of eligibility too.
D-line is going to be a top need when the college football transfer portal opens on Dec. 9. However, the need isn’t quite as drastic following Elijah Jeudy’s announcement that he would be returning to the Nebraska football program for another season.
Over the past two years, Jeudy has been a reserve for the Huskers. He played in 11 games during the 2023 season with eight tackles and one for loss. This season, he played in every game for the Nebraska football team and had nine tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
At 6-foot-3, 285 pounds, Jeudy will likely compete with Riley Van Poppel for Ty Robinson’s old starting job. Vincent Jackson is another name to know. Jimari Butler announced his return, so ideally, Nebraska football just needs to find a nose tackle to replace Hutmacher.
You can never have enough defensive line depth. My hope is that Nebraska football learned that lesson this season and adds a couple of 300-pounders in the portal.
Nebraska Cornhuskers get No. 2 overall seed in NCAA volleyball tournament
After clinching a share of the Big Ten championship over the weekend, the Nebraska volleyball team earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA volleyball tournament and the No. 2 overall seed.
Pittsburgh which ended the season ranked No. 1 is the top overall seed. In Nebraska’s region is Wisconsin, a team the Huskers swept twice during the regular season.
Nebraska volleyball will get to host all four matches leading up to the Final Four. If they advance that far, Penn State and Creighton are the top two seeds. Nebraska beat the Bluejays in five but lost on the road to Penn State in four sets.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers will open the NCAA tournament Friday against Florida A&M at 7 PM CST inside the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Nebraska football gets crystal balled for a flip
Over the weekend, Steve Wiltfong and some other On3 recruiting experts projected four-star wide receiver Cortez Mills to flip to Nebraska football.
On Sunday, Tom Loy of 247 Sports followed that up with a crystal ball projection for Mills to flip from Oklahoma to Nebraska this week. He’s ranked 113th overall in the 2025 class and is one of the top wide receivers at 6-foot, 165 pounds.
Early Signing Day is Wednesday and with Mills, Michael Terry, and Chase Loftin all out there waiting to make decisions — with the Cornhuskers among their top choices — this week will be interesting from a Nebraska football recruiting perspective.
