As far as the 2025 recruiting class is concerned, Nebraska football still has some work to do. The Huskers are trying to hold their commitments, while also trying to flip 2-3 before Early National Signing Day next month.

Chase Loftin and Dawson Merritt are the two recruits Nebraska football fans have been the most familiar with in terms of flips to watch for the Huskers in 2025.

Loftin, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound four-star tight end from Omaha, visited Nebraska football last weekend. The Florida State commitment was projected to flip. However, it hasn’t happened yet and there are now reports that Loftin will visit Missouri and Texas A&M.

Speaking of visits, Chad Simmons of On3.com reported earlier this week that Nebraska football fans should keep an eye out for another visit from Dawson Merrit, a four-star EDGE/LB committed to Alabama.

The Huskers hosted Merritt for an official visit during the spring game. He also visited over the summer and for the Colorado game. Nebraska has been gaining momentum in recent weeks. Matt Rhule even visited him recently during a high school game.

Yet, another recruit that should be on the radar for Nebraska Cornhuskers fans, according to Simmons, is three-star safety Aiden Manutai. He’s 6-foot, 195 pounds, and is ranked No. 853 overall. He’s committed to Cal but Simmons said Manutai has been keeping Nebraska “warm” so keep that in mind.

The Huskers currently have 20 commitments. Nine of them are ranked as blue-chip prospects and the class ranks 26th overall in the 247 Sports team rankings for 2025.

Nebraska football visits 5-star Jackson Cantwell

In the 2026 class, one of the top targets is Jackson Cantwell, the No. 2 overall recruit and No. 1 offensive tackle. The 6-foot-7, 300-pounder has taken numerous visits to Nebraska football, which is one of his finalists, and this week, Matt Rhule made the trip to see him again.

Rhule and the Huskers also visited 2025 commitment, Malcolm Simpson. Some other programs have been trying to flip him, so it’s a smart move by Nebraska to show him some love.

Nebraska volleyball sweeps again

The Oregon Ducks were no match for Nebraska volleyball on Thursday night as the Huskers went West and swept the Ducks (25-12, 26-24, and 25-18).

Nebraska is now 13-0 in the Big Ten and 23-1 overall. Harper Murray had a double-double in the win, pacing the Huskers with 14 kills and 10 digs. She also hit .414 and notched an ace. Taylor Landfair had a big night with 13 kills, while Merritt Beason and Andi Jackson each managed six.

Oregon was held to just .133 hitting. Bergen Reilly played a role in that with nine digs to go along with 33 assists as Nebraska volleyball hit .278. The Huskers finished with four aces and no errors. Freshman Olvia Mauch had two. Lexi Rodriguez is now second in school history with 1,720 career digs following 14 on Thursday night in Eugene.

Nebraska will play at Washington on Saturday at 9:30 PM EST on the Big Ten Network.
