The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team has made it to Sunday of the Chapel Hill Regional, after notching at least a win in the NCAA tournament for the second straight year.
This time, it came via a 4-1 win over Holy Cross. Ty Horn was stellar on the mound for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He allowed one home run, but that was it in 7.1 innings. The sophomore, who also went eight strong innings against UCLA, struck out six on his way to the win.
Cayden Brumbaugh provided the spark offensively, with a two-run home run that put Nebraska in front. Devin Nunez added four hits in the victory, including a double. Hogan Helligso also had a home run and an RBI double.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers still have to win three straight games to advance to the Super Regional. That starts with Oklahoma on Sunday at 11 AM CST. Oklahoma beat Nebraska baseball on Friday night, but lost to North Carolina, using their ace and five pitchers total.
This will be an elimination game, just like the one against Holy Cross. If Nebraska baseball beats the Sooners, it would then need to beat North Carolina, the host team, twice — once on Sunday night, then again on Monday.
Tucker Timmerman is likely to get the start for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Cade Crossland has been the third starter this season for the Sooners and is 4-5 with a 7.04 ERA. Timmerman has five starts this season and is 2-1 with a 5.61 ERA. Will Walsh has also started 12 games this season for Nebraska and could be an option for Will Bolt.
The game against Oklahoma will be broadcast on the SEC Network. If Nebraska wins, it will play North Carolina at 5 PM CST.
