Should Nebraska football offer 4-star, in-state QB Jeff Thomalla?

The top-ranked player in the state of Nebraska for the 2026 class is Jeff Thomalla, who doesn’t have an offer from Nebraska football.

Nebraska football has three players committed in the 2026 recruiting class. The Huskers also have a bunch of scholarship offers out to top recruiting targets.

However, the top-ranked recruit in the state of Nebraska, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings at least, isn’t one of those players.

Jeff Thomalla, a four-star quarterback ranked 327th overall in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, is ranked No. 1 in Nebraska. He’s also ranked 19th among quarterbacks, and his offer sheet has been expanding.

Missouri is the latest team to offer Thomalla. Iowa State is another, but Duke is the only other power-4 program to offer the Millard South quarterback. That could change, though, and it’s worth asking if Nebraska will make a play for the quarterback.

Should Nebraska football offer Jeff Thomalla?

The Huskers already have a 2026 QB commitment, Dayton Raiola. He’s a three-star ranked 921 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. But he’s the younger brother of Dylan Raiola, a Nebraska legacy and a guy the Huskers really like.

They offered Dayton soon after Matt Rhule became the head coach or affirmed his offer. They have never wavered in their belief in him and took his commitment without any offer from any other power-4 program.

Matt Rhule has never cared about rankings or the opinions of others about prospects. App State and Charlotte are the only other offers for Raiola at this point. However, he’s shown a ton of improvement and is the starter for Buford, one of the best programs in the country.

I don’t expect Nebraska football to waver on its commitment to Raiola at all. Maybe they would be interested in two quarterbacks in the 2026 class, that seems to be the only way Thomalla would be part of the class and that can be a tough sell.

So far, though, it doesn’t seem as though Nebraska is interested in Thomalla, who told Husker Online this past weekend that the Huskers “don’t really talk to me.”

It will be something to monitor going forward, especially if Thomalla gets more offers, but right now, it’s hard to see one coming from Nebraska, right or wrong.
