Matt Rhule is about to go on a heater as Nebraska football enters the first big official visit weekend of the 2027 recruiting class.

The Huskers are scheduled to have 14 recruits on campus. That includes five-star offensive lineman Albert Simien. Nebraska should swing for the fences here because you can never have enough good players in the trenches.

Even if the Huskers miss on Simien, though, they have added some quality recruits to the offensive line. This week, it looks like the defensive line is about to start loading up.

Nehemiah Ombati, a 6-foot-3, 275-pound defensive lineman from Minnesota, who is ranked No. 404 overall, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, has started trending to the Huskers. Bryan Munson of Husker Online put in a projection for the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine, which now gives Nebraska football an 85 percent chance to win his commitment.

This would be the first D-line commitment for the Huskers in the 2027 class, but Corey Brown might be just heating up. Errol Demontagnac (No. 991), another 6-foot-3, 270-pounder, is also visiting. He’s received multiple projections to commit to the Huskers, who will also host Minnesota EDGE commit Ma’atoe Moe (No. 794).

It wouldn’t be shocking at all if Nebraska closed out all three commitments in short order after this weekend. The Huskers are also favored to land four-star cornerback Jailen Hill (announcing June 9th) and 4-star cornerback Bryce Williams.

Elite WR changes visit schedule

Speaking of commitments that could be coming soon — Matthew Gregory, who was expected to visit LSU this weekend, canceled that visit and moved up this trip to Lincoln.

The 6-foot, 170-pound wide receiver is ranked 97th overall, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. Nebraska has also been projected to land this elite wideout. There also aren’t any other visits scheduled after his trip to Lincoln this weekend.

It feels like Nebraska is the team to beat. If the Huskers land Gregory, that would give them five commitments in the top 110 of the Rivals Industry Rankings and the 247 Sports composite rankings.

You have to tip your cap to Matt Rhule. He and his staff are getting it done on the recruiting trail.

Nebraska football misses

Of course, you aren’t going to land every target, and two came off the board on Wednesday. Three-star linebacker Matthew Brady committed to Michigan State, while three-star DL Zahmir Tookes committed to Florida. They were each expected to take official visits to Nebraska this month.
