Nebraska football fans have plenty of reasons to be high on the future of defensive lineman Tyson Terry, one of the signees in the 2025 class of the Huskers.

The 6-foot-2, 279-pound defensive lineman, and a four-star recruit according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, was ranked as the No. 3 recruit in the state of Nebraska in the 2025 class.

He committed to Nebraska football early in the cycle before signing with the Huskers in December. However, Terry, a state champion wrestler, didn’t enroll early. Why? He was attempting to become a four-time state champ and the first-ever heavyweight in the state of Nebraska to win four in a row.

It took overtime in the semifinals on Friday, but Terry gutted out a 2-1 win. Then, he wrapped up his fourth consecutive state championship on Saturday, ending his career with a 169-0 record.

What makes the achievement even more incredible is the fact that Terry did it with a torn ACL. According to his dad, Terry wrestled the entire season with a torn ACL. He’ll have surgery to repair that this week, which puts his 2025 season with Nebraska football in doubt.

Still, Terry is going to be an asset for this program for years to come. It’s hard not to look at him and see the second coming of the Polar Bear.

A home-run fest for Nebraska softball

After a loss to Duke on Friday, the Nebraska softball team rolled San Jose State 12-4 and Howard 11-1 on Saturday. In the win over the Spartans, Nebraska belted five home runs including four in a row at one point.

One of those long bombs came from Jordy Bahl, who had four hits in the two victories (she didn’t pitch). Ava Kuszak, Samantha Bland, Kacie Hoffman, and Abbie Squier all hit home runs. Four in a row set a new school record. Hannah Camenzind got the start and allowed two earned runs before giving way to Kylee Magee who got the win in relief.

In the second game, Bahl had two more hits, while Hoffman and Kuszak went yard again for Nebraska softball in the 10-run win. Emmerson Cope won in the circle for the Cornhuskers, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings and striking out two.

Nebraska baseball swept

Saturday was a disappointing day for Nebraska baseball. The Huskers dropped a 4-1 decision to Louisiana, scoring just one run on four hits. Ty Horn fell to 0-1 on the season after allowing two runs on four hits in six innings of work. Dylan Carey was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

The second game didn’t go much better for 23rd-ranked Nebraska. Devin Nunez blasted a solo home run for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Will Jesske also managed an RBI triple, but those were the only bright spots. Will Walsh struggled and allowed five runs on four hits in two innings to get the loss.

Nebraska is 3-4 on the season and will play at Sam Houston State on Friday at 6 P.M. CST.
