Nebraska football’s big official visit weekend just got bigger.

A lot of Nebraska fans thought the Huskers were dead in the water in the recruitment of five-star Ahmad Hudson after he committed to LSU earlier this week.

Nebraska recruiting insiders said there was still a chance for Nebraska football to land the elite recruit, and now, fans might start to believe it.

Hudson has finally made it back to Lincoln. After talk of a few spring visits that never materialized, the five-star LSU commitment is currently on campus, in Nebraska, for his official visit, according to Tim Verghese of Rivals.

This is huge news for Nebraska, which was already scheduled to host 14 official visitors this weekend, with five-star offensive lineman Albert Simien being one of them. Now, there are two five-star recruits on campus, along with seven 2027 recruits who have been projected to the Huskers.

Nebraska football still has a shot to land elite tight end Ahmad Hudson

Nebraska football has been building momentum in the 2027 class. It feels like there are multiple commitments coming in the next week, although Hudson isn’t among that group.

Trae Taylor posted a photo of himself and Hudson. It was later confirmed that Hudson is in Lincoln for his official visit. The 6-foot-6, 239-pound tight end is ranked No. 18 overall in the 2027 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The two-sport standout also has an offer to play college basketball for Fred Hoiberg. However, the Ruston, Louisiana, prospect  is ranked No. 1 in the state. Those players are hard to pull out of the Bayou, which will be more difficult now that Lane Kiffin is the head coach.

Hudson is on campus, though. That has to mean something. At the very least, it means Nebraska football isn’t dead in this recruitment.
