At this point, it will be a surprise if Notre Dame transfer Rocco Spindler commits to Nebraska football. Virginia is trending with predictions after a reported offer of over $1 million according to Sean Callahan of Husker Online.

You can’t blame Spindler. He’s going into his final season of college football and wasn’t even the starter for Notre Dame coming out of fall camp. The 23-game starter for his career started the final 13 games and played well.

But that’s offensive tackle money for a guard. Teams have to be careful not to overpay just like in NFL free agency and that might be too rich for Nebraska football. We’ll see because there hasn’t been a commitment yet but a decision is coming and it seems like Spindler isn’t coming to Lincoln.

Nebraska football Junior Day a huge success

Nebraska had over 20 recruits on campus on Saturday in the 2026 and 2027 classes. 2026 linebacker/EDGE Jase Reynolds is one of the top players in the state of Nebraska and he was on campus, along with Matt Erickson, a 6-foot-8 in-state offensive tackle.

Nebraska football is trending as the favorite in both of those recruitments. According to Steve Wiltfong of On3.com, the Huskers also made headway with four-star linebacker Jordan Campbell, a Miami commitment, along with four-star safety Devin Jackson, a Florida commitment.

Four-star running back Noah Roberts told Bryan Munson of Husker Online that he enjoyed his visit and that he would be back for another. Kevlin Obot is a four-star offensive tackle who said he “loves the direction Nebraska is headed” and that the Huskers are “high on his list” according to Wiltfong.

Claude Mpouma an offensive tackle from the Chicago area was also on campus. Nebraska football didn’t land any commitments and that’s one thing some fans will say. But Nebraska had five blue-chip recruits on campus according to On3 — the true number was beyond that — and many of them will return for positive visits.

That’s what you need to get in order to get commitments. You have to get recruits on campus multiple times and this weekend will the Huskers the chance to do that with some high-ranking prospects.

Commitments weren’t expected but the Huskers made progress on the trail and things in the 2026 class will start heating up, even more than they have been with the staff traveling all over the country.
