Predicting the final commitments for Nebraska football in 2027 class

Predicting the final commitments for Nebraska football in the 2027 recruiting class.

Nebraska football

Nebraska football is hosting the final official visit weekend before the dead period, and essentially, the final official visit weekend that is consequential for the 2027 recruiting class.

The Huskers don’t have a large contingent of committed recruits, but only two this weekend who are not committed somewhere — four-star wideout Khalil Taylor and three-star tight end Seager Milholen.

However, there is also a lot of buzz about other recruits who visited in June like Ahmad Hudson, Kyler Kuhn, and Barrett Kitrell. The Huskers currently have 19 commitments. How high will that number get?

Based on the current circumstances, it feels like there will be at could be 3-5 more commitments in the 2027 class. That can always change, but here are predictions for the final top targets on the board for Nebraska football.

Ahmad Hudson: Signs with LSU

There is a buzz about a flip. It seems real after the official visit earlier this month. Hudson really seemed to enjoy Nebraska last summer, and he’s got a connection with Trae Taylor. Nebraska also seems willing to let him play football and basketball.

The in-state pressure from Louisiana is real. NIL could be a factor here, too. I don’t see the Tigers losing Hudson without a fight, and when push comes to shove, I feel like he will sign with the Tigers.

Khalil Taylor: Nebraska

Penn State is the heavy leader, but Nebraska football was building momentum going into the weekend. Taylor was seen wearing a black jersey on his visit. Some have hinted that Matt Rhule only lets committed recruits wear those jerseys.

I have no idea if that’s true. But, Taylor, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound receiver who caught 38 touchdown passes in the past two seasons, is also tight with Trae. He canceled an Alabama visit to come to Lincoln, and he only called off the first visit because it looked like Nebraska was going to land Matthew Gregory.

Matt Campbell is also in his first year with Penn State. Taylor has been to Penn State’s campus more than 10 times. James Franklin was the head coach for most of those, though, so I feel like the Huskers can pull out of a win.

Taylor hasn’t committed anywhere.

Barrett Kirtell: Nebraska

Geep Wade has done a great job in this recruitment. At one point, it was hard to tell if Kitrell was a take or not for Nebraska. That question has been answered. Nebraska football is recruiting him with the potential to play all five positions.

Matt Rhule has missed on some in-state recruits, but rarely on the ones prioritized. Kitrell will be N.

Kyler Kuhn: Nebraska

This is a 50/50 battle between Nebraska and Missouri. However, I’m going to give Geep Wade the edge. I thought Nebraska was out of this one, just like with Kitrell, before the official visit.

Getting both recruits on campus for official visits, despite already having four O-line commits, was huge. A six-man class isn’t crazy, especially considering what an issue the offensive line has been.

Wade has wanted Kuhn from day one, and he will get him.

Seager Milholen: Nebraska

This could happen this weekend. Milhonen, the 6-foot-6, 250-pound tight end (No. 838 overall) is on his second visit this month. It’s not clear if there is any real competition right now, and whether Nebraska lands Hudson or not, it seems to want another traditional tight end.

That means 23 commitments. That’s a bigger class than expected, but the Huskers can still recruit Hudson and others until signing day. If someone like that wants to flip, Nebraska will make it happen.

If these predictions are correct, according to the current rankings, it would give Nebraska 11 blue-chip commitments out of 23.
