The magical ride just continues for Nebraska softball!
In a matchup of the two best pitchers in college softball, it was Jordy Bahl who emerged victorious after allowing seven hits and two runs to Tennessee in a complete-game win by the score of 5-2 over the host team.
Bahl wasn’t perfect. She even got in some jams but was able to pitch out of them with some help from the defense. Jordy did have two strikeouts. She also added a hit and two runs.
With Nebraska softball leading 3-1 in the top of the fourth, Hannah Camenzind belted a solo home run to extend the lead with a home run, making it 4-1. Nebraska softball took advantage of an error on a Bahl at-bat, allowing another run to score as the Huskers built a 5-1 lead.
It was the 43rd win of the season for Nebraska softball. The decision in favor of Bahl was her 26th. Samantha Bland, Olivia DiNardo, and Camenzind all had at least one hit and drove in a run.
Nebraska was able to run pitcher Karlyn Pickens after just 3.2 innings. She was hit with the loss. Both pitchers could be back in the circle on Saturday, although Tennessee might have some other options.
For Nebraska, Bahl will certainly get the ball. The team that wins the first game has a huge edge in the Super Regional. Those teams tend to win most of the time.
With Bahl coming back on the mound, Nebraska softball has a huge opportunity on Saturday. Win one more game and the Huskers are headed to the Women’s College World Series.
And who would you rather in the circle for that situation, other than Bahl?
