Nebraska football appears to be in good standing with 2024 tight end Michael Burt. Burt received an expert projection from Bryan Munson late Thursday night, as the tight end continues to make his rounds across the Big Ten.
Burt is scheduled to visit Nebraska football this weekend. He will take an official visit beginning on Friday, in what has been a busy week for him. He received an offer from Illinois on Thursday as well, becoming the fourth Big Ten school to offer him.
Burt would be able to bring tremendous catching ability to the Nebraska football program. He has the ability to run like a wide receiver, and he makes things happen after the catch. He measures in at six-foot-six, 230 pounds. However, he moves like he is smaller than that. He would be a good get for a Nebraska football program that needs to add depth at the tight end position.
This isn’t necessarily a position of need, as Nebraska football has two potential tight ends in the 2024 class. Keelan Smith, Ismael Smith Flores and Ian Flynt are the names to know. Adding Burt would give Nebraska football even more depth at the position. This is an offense that wants to be physical. Burt could help bring that physicality in terms of blocking in the running game.
Nebraska coaching staff has been fast-moving
There also should be a bit of credit given to Nebraska football and the coaching staff on this recruitment. Head coach Matt Rhule talked about being a bit behind on the Teddy Rezac recruitment. Now, it seems as though they are on top of this recruitment with Burt.
Burt’s stock is only going to continue to rise. Between getting an offer from Nebraska on June 5, and getting him in for a visit on Friday, that is certainly quick movement.
Overall, this is good news for the Huskers It gives them a backup option in case Carter Nelson falls through. Right now, things are not looking promising on that front. In any event, he would be able to give Nebraska another talented body in the room.
