Thompson played for the Syracuse Orange last season. He was a redshirt sophomore last year and played in every game. He made a start as well. In total, he recorded 52 tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble last season. His one game started was in the Boca Raton Bowl against South Florida.
There is a bit of overlap with the current coaching staff. Thompson worked with Nebraska football defensive coordinator Tony White at Syracuse.
Alexander played for the University of Idaho last season. He played in 13 games, and recorded 75 total tackles. This included four tackles for loss. In addition, he was very active around the football. He recorded a pass deflection, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. One of his best games of the season came against Northern Colorado on November 4. In that contest, he recorded 13 tackles and three tackles for a loss.
As it stands right now, Thompson has a 95% chance of landing with Nebraska football. The Huskers were put in as Thompson’s leader on Wednesday afternoon. Nebraska was put in as Alexander’s leader with an 88.3% chance of landing him. The prediction was also put in on Wednesday.

Thompson is extremely quick when it comes to making a tackle. He is not afraid to come down and make a play. He also has solid instincts, and can run from sideline to sideline. Those traits are certainly an asset in a Nebraska football defense. He plays aggressively, and that will work in his favor.
Alexander is an interesting player in his own right. He has the ability to play off the edge, and shed blocks. This is where his speed comes into play the most. He is able to make a pocket collapse quickly, and also can run with scrambling quarterbacks out of the backfield.
Solid fits for Nebraska football
To put it simply, these two both have traits that would fit well in Nebraska football’s current defense. It would be very easy to see these two players fit into what the huskers want to do defensively. These new predictions, as well as Thompson’s familiarity with White certainly have things trending in Nebraska’s favor. It will be interesting to see if the program can make any headway with these two players, in what is going to be a busy weekend.
