Nebraska football has finally addressed the offensive line, adding one of the top players from the transfer portal in offensive tackle Elijah Pritchett.
The former five-star offensive tackle is 6-foot-7, 330 pounds. He’s also ranked No. 4 among offensive tackles in the transfer portal, according to 247 Sports, and No. 42 overall.
Pritchett gives the Huskers a dude with starting experience at right and left tackle. He’s also got multiple years of eligibility left. However, it doesn’t seem like Nebraska football is done pursuing offensive tackles.
Shiyazh Pete, a 6-foot-8, 320-pound offensive tackle who played for New Mexico the past few seasons, also visited Nebraska football this week. He’s ranked 11th among offensive tackles available and according to Sean Callahan of Husker Online, his addition is still on the table even after a commitment from Pritchett.
A commitment from Pete would give the Cornhuskers two of the top 11 offensive tackles available and combined they have played nearly 2,500 offensive snaps in their careers.
Nebraska football trending for other transfer portal commitments
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have 15 transfer portal commitments, but they appear far from finished. In fact, two more commitments could be coming soon.
One of them is from Marquis Groves-Killebrew. The 6-foot-1 cornerback who had 24 tackles and four passes defended for Arizona last season was a four-star recruit coming out of high school. He’s rated as a three-star in the portal but would give Nebraska football another experienced cornerback.
The Huskers have added Jamir Conn and Andrew Marshall to a room that also includes Ceyair Wright, Donovan Jones, Amare Sanders, Jeremiah Charles, Blye Hill, and others.
Nebraska football is also trending as the favorite to land another transfer portal wide receiver — this time Jonah Wilson. The 6-foot-2 wide receiver was recruited by Dana Holgorsen out of high school. He played two seasons with the Cougars and had nine receptions last year.
Both Wilson and Groves-Killebrew have been projected to land with Nebraska football by multiple recruiting experts.
Wilson was a dynamic kick returner in high school and is yet another wide receiver who would bring familiarity with Holgorsen. Wilson would also figure to compete for playing time along with Jacory Barney, Nyziah Hunter, Dane Key, Hardley Gilmore, and Cortez Mills. Quinn Clark should be in the mix too.
That’s quite the wide receiver room and the best news is that everyone but Key has at least three years of eligibility remaining.
Nebraska gets ranked win in women’s basketball
The Nebraska women’s basketball team is back to its winning ways. After the Huskers lost two in a row to top-five teams UCLA and USC (on the road) they returned home with a win over Penn State on Sunday.
On Wednesday, the Nebraska women’s basketball team got another win, this one even more important, over 20th-ranked Michigan State, 85-80. Nebraska used a 28-point second quarter to grab a 10-point halftime lead and never looked back.
Alexis Markowski came up big with 28 points and eight rebounds. Allison Weidner added 11 points and six assists, while Britt Prince finished with 10 points, four boards, and two dimes.
Nebraska is now 12-4 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten. Next up is Rutgers on Sunday (1 PM CST, BTN).
