The Nebraska football coaching staff was on the road yesterday, stopping in to see a pair of recruiting targets. 2025 wide receiver Corey Sims and 2025 f tight Platteview tight end Reiman Zebert were visited by members of the staff.

Simms is a four-star wide receiver according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is the 43rd overall wide receiver in the 2025 class, and the third overall player in the class from the state of Missouri. He has 33 offers in total, including from the likes of Georgia Michigan, Penn State, TCU, and Tennessee.

Zebert is a three-star tight end. He has an 87 overall numerical rating, and is the sixth overall player in the 2025 class from the state of Nebraska per the 247Sports Rankings. His recruitment is rather new, and he has no Crystal Ball predictions at this time. The tight end measures in at six-foot-six, 210 pounds.

These visits are both interesting to say the least. For one, the tight end and wide receiver spots have a ton of depth. These are not necessarily positions of need. However, they are positions where talent is plentiful. Restocking the proverbial cupboard is certainly a smart play, and building depth at positions is something that Nebraska football has focused on.

What could they bring to Nebraska football?

Simms is a dynamic downfield threat with speed. One of the things he does best is fire off his break. He then uses that acceleration to blow by his defender easily.  The wide receiver played a lot on the outside for Christian Brothers College High School, and he would certainly excel in that role for Nebraska football.

Zebert is extremely athletic for a tight end. He is able to run his routes crisply, and he used his size advantage well at Platteview. He also played on the outside a lot in addition to the tight end position. Speed is not necessarily his strongest suit, but his ability to go up and get footballs certainly makes him an attractive recruit. He is a fundamentally sound football player.

It will be interesting to see how Nebraska football handles the recruitment of these two players. The 2025 class itself ranks 23rd overall nationally with four commitments. There is a solid base of players in the class itself, and these two would certainly add to what is becoming a very promising class.

This coaching staff has shown that they can recruit well. They put together a strong 2024 group, and now they are already planting the seeds for 2025.
