The Nebraska volleyball team improved to 8-0 on the season after a 3-0 sweep of Creighton in dominant fashion, with scores of 25-13, 25-15, and 25-19.

Nebraska is now 25-0 against Creighton in volleyball. The Bluejays are still winless all-time against the Huskers. The two teams played at Pinnacle Bank Arena, setting an attendance record for a volleyball match there.

Creighton is now 5-5 on the season. The Huskers, ranked No.1, are 8-0. Here are three takeaways.

Kenna Cogill brought it

Manaia Ogbechie, the Big Ten Player of the Week last week, missed the match due to an illness, so Cogill, the sophomore, stepped in.

Flat out, she was spectacular. The 6-foot-4 middle from Arizona recorded a career-high eight kills and hit .727. She also pitched in with two blocks. Cogill showed she was capable of performing at a high level when she started against DePaul for Andi Jackson, but goodness, Nebraska volleyball has more depth at middle blocker than it knows what to do with.

Defense suffocates the Bluejays

The hitting is fun. There is nothing better than watching Harper Murray or Jackson smash one home, but defense wins championships. Defense is why the Huskers swept their in-state rivals in Lincoln on Wednesday, as they limited Creighton to -.033 hitting. That’s a season low for the Bluejays, who are a Top-25 team.

Nebraska has the best hitting percentage defense in college volleyball in 2025. They have the best defense so far in 2026 and the second-best hitting percentage differential, at least before the match, behind Michigan State, although that might have changed.

Seniors do their thing

Andi Jackson led the Huskers with nine kills. She also added five blocks. Murray was credited with eight kills, moving her into 8th all-time in the scoring rally era. Bergen Reilly also had her third double-double with 33 assists and 11 digs. She continues to make a strong case for Big Ten Player of the Year. Heck, National Player of the Year.

Nebraska football will play Notre Dame in the future

Nebraska fans worried about the non-conference schedule being so weak will be excited about the news that the Huskers will play a home-and-home against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish

According to Huskers.com, Nebraska will host Notre Dame at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Oct. 30, 2032, before the Huskers will travel to South Bend for a matchup at Notre Dame Stadium on Oct. 29, 2033.

Nebraska and Notre Dame have met 16 times previously, with the Huskers holding an 8-7-1 advantage in the all-time series. Nebraska won the last two games played in 2000 (27-24) and also 27-10 in 2001 when Eric Crouch was the quarterback.

Athletic reports Nebraska football is 17th in college football roster spending

The Athletic released a free article on Wednesday that detailed the spending of every Power 4 college football program.

Ohio State and Oregon are at the top of the list. Michigan and Indiana are ahead of Nebraska, too, along with USC, but the Huskers are sixth in the Big Ten. They are in the same neighborhood as Clemson, Georgia, Auburn, South Carolina, etc.

Being in the top 16 isn’t a bad place to be. The Huskers need to start getting more bang for their buck, though, which is why you see them investing heavily in high-level high school recruits as well as transfer portal players.

There are the haves and have nots. At least Nebraska isn’t a have not like Boston College. Nebraska spent between $31-35 million on this roster. Boston College spent $8 million.
