Nebraska football starting quarterback Dylan Raiola met with the media on Tuesday and talked about what it meant to him to be named the Nebraska football starting quarterback.

Raiola said he found out walking off the practice field. Since his dad played for the Huskers, it obviously means a lot and the family history is a big reason why he came to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Raiola also told reporters to “Buckle up, it’s going to be a fun ride.”

Five-star Michael Terry trending away from Nebraska

It’s hard to believe we are three days away from the Nebraska football season opener. We are also about 10 days away from when five-star recruit Michael Terry is expected to visit for the Colorado game.

However, I’m starting to wonder if that visit will actually happen. Texas has been making a push. The Longhorns certainly don’t want the No. 32 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, out of San Antonio, to visit Lincoln for the game.

Nebraska football will host Colorado in a primetime matchup. Lincoln Memorial Stadium will be rocking and it could have an impact on the recruitment. Terry has enjoyed every trip and each time Nebraska has grabbed some momentum only to cede it back to Texas.

Steve Wiltfong projected Terry to Texas earlier this week. There have been a slew of other expert projections and the Horns have a 96 percent chance to land his commitment.

Hopefully, the Nebraska Cornhuskers can get him on campus because if so, I believe they still have a chance.

Nebraska football hands out Blackshirts

One of my favorite traditions of the Nebraska Cornhuskers is the Blackshirts. Nebraska football hands them out to the most deserving players.

Tony White addressed the media on Tuesday and explained the decisions but essentially, the Cornhuskers handed them out to all 11 starters along with Cameron Lenhardt, who Matt Rhule has repeatedly said is a “starter” even though he may not start due to the 3-3-5 alignment at times.

Mikai Gbayor, John Bullock, Lenhardt, Nash Hutmacher, Ty Robinson, Jimari Butler, Marques Buford, Tommi Hill, Isaac Gifford, DeShon Singleton, Malcolm Hartzog, and MJ Sherman were the recipients.

Others will likely earn the distinction throughout the season, too.

More Nebraska Cornhuskers news

  • Former Nebraska football quarterback Adrian Martinez was waived by the Jets. He could be still claimed by another team or be put onto the Jets practice squad as their third quarterback.
  • The Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team opened the season with a win over No. 9 Kentucky. No. 2 Nebraska will be back at home on Friday, but here are three takeaways from their win in Louisville.
  • Finally, Nebraska football has added to the roster again as former LSU tight, and former four-star tight end in the 2023 class, Mac Markway has enrolled at practice. He’s essentially transferred and will start practice this week. He’s 6-foot-4, 258 pounds, and was ranked as a top-10 recruit coming out of high school at his position. It’s unclear if he will be able to play this season for the Cornhuskers.
