You probably aren’t alone if you watched the Nebraska football loss to Iowa on Friday night and thought that the Huskers needed to upgrade the talent at wide receiver.

There are some solid options. Nebraska definitely has some nice pieces for the future too. Jacory Barney is a playmaker but the Huskers need more players like him and according to the latest expert projections from Steve Wiltfong (and others), another is coming.

That player is Cortez Mills, a 6-foot, 165-pound wide receiver currently committed to Oklahoma. Mills is out of Homestead, Florida, and is ranked No. 113 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s also ranked 15th in the state of Florida.

Mills has been compared to Devonta Smith by Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule. He took an official visit to Nebraska and was also back for the Colorado game.

Flipping Cortez Mills would be massive for Nebraska football

There were rumors about him flipping. A recent report said that Mills was going to decide around signing day, which wasn’t a great sign for the Sooners. When a kid is committed, he shouldn’t have a “decision” to make so that tells you Nebraska is in the mix.

Signing Day is now just a few days away and according to an expert projection from Wiltfong, the Huskers have done enough to finally flip the dynamic wideout from Florida. Chad Simmons, another top expert for On3.com has also projected a flip, along with Bryan Munson of Husker Online.

Flipping Mills would be massive. Michael Terry, a five-star athlete was also spotted wearing Nebraska gloves on Friday.

If the Huskers can add him and Mills to go along with some of the young dudes on the roster like Carter Nelson, Jalen Lloyd, Quinn Clark, Isaiah McMorris, Dae’vonn Hall, and others — finding open receivers won’t be a problem for QB Dylan Raiola anymore.
