Nebraska football got another commitment for the 2024 class on Saturday as 2024 linebacker Willis McGahee IV committed to the program. He made the announcement on Twitter.

McGahee is the 24th overall linebacker in the 2024 class, and the 34th overall player in his class from the state of Florida per the 247Sports rankings He has a numerical rating of 90.

He had 19 offers and total, including some from big-time schools. Auburn, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan, and Tennessee were some of the schools he was offered by. He began his unofficial visit on Friday, and committed on Saturday. He also was in Lincoln on March 20 to check out the program’s practice.

What can he bring to Nebraska football?

This is a big get for Nebraska football, as he is an impact playmaker. He had 50 tackles and eight sacks last year for Columbus High School in Miami. He measures in at six-foot-one 225 pounds. McGahee is able to come strong off the edge, and uses a variety of moves to make plays. He is extremely fast and can get into the backfield quickly. He doesn’t use a variety of moves to get into the backfield. Speed is one of his biggest assets.

McGahee will fit nice in a 3-3-5 defense. His speed and rushing ability will allow him to be able to play multiple spots on the field. This is exactly the type of player that will fit well in this type of defense.

Looking at the 2024 recruiting class

Currently the 2024 Nebraska football recruiting class is looking strong after a solid week. It ranks 38th overall in the 247Sports composite rankings. McGahee is the second-highest rated recruit in the class to this point. This continues what has been a solid month for Nebraska, as they have landed three commitments total in this class.

It will be exciting to see who else Nebraska football will be able to land. Right now, they have a ton of momentum heading into Saturday’s spring game. I don’t expect that to stop anytime soon.
