Nebraska Football commit Daniel Kaelin has had a wild month. After representing Nebraska at the Elite 11 finals, and winning the accuracy challenge, he is getting rewarded. The quarterback received a fourth star according to the 247Sports rankings.
With this star increase, he now sits as the 15th overall quarterback in the 2024 class, and the second overall player in the 2024 class from the state of Nebraska, per the 247Sports rankings. He sits behind classmate Carter Nelson.
Kaelin has been an important part of the 2024 class as a recruiter as well. It is no coincidence that Isaiah McMorris, Dae’vonn, and Carter Nelson have all committed since the quarterback’s arrival. Now, the waiting game begins as the 2023 season gets underway.
With this star increase, Nebraska football now has five four-star commitments in the 2024 class. This is certainly a step in the right direction, as the Huskers continue to build.
What’s even more positive about this is that three of the five four-stars or offensive players. Nebraska football has done a nice job of getting playmakers around the quarterback. They’re giving him an opportunity to succeed. This is something that previous Nebraska football staffs did not necessarily do for their signal -caller. Ultimately, it did not work out well.
Ratings are not everything. Oftentimes, people don’t value the stars highly. Those points of view are definitely understandable. However, it’s good to see Kaelin get the respect he deserves from the national evaluators. This was something that was missing during the Elite 11 camp, and it would have stunk to see him miss out on a fourth star by only a little bit.
Up next for Kaelin is his senior season. He will be able to join Hall and McMorris for one final ride, before they head off to Nebraska. In the meantime, the Nebraska football coaching staff will try to round out the class, before the 2023 season begins.
