Nebraska football hosted two four-star recruits this weekend in the 2024 class and made positive impressions on both.

The Nebraska football team held another scrimmage on Saturday and the Huskers hosted some blue-chip recruits over the weekend.

One of them was a surprise visitor and that was in-state wideout Isaiah McMorris. McMorris has been trending with crystal ball projections to Oklahoma recently, so getting him back to Lincoln was a good sign.

Earlier in the week, we talked about four-star EDGE Jacob Smith taking a visit to Nebraska football for the second time this spring. The Huskers did enough on the first trip to get Smith and come back and this time, he brought his mom, which he has only done a few times according to what he told Bryan Munson of Husker Online.

Smith also said that he would be releasing a top-five list soon and that Nebraska football would make it. Notre Dame is the favorite according to the On3 prediction machine. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound EDGE is viewed as elite by On3 as it ranks him 29th overall in its own rankings. Smith is No. 230 in the On3 industry rankings.

Notre Dame and Alabama have each hosted Smith for visits this spring. Nebraska football has hosted him twice though (Notre Dame too) and getting him back for an official visit would be huge. The Huskers are clearly making a move and I’d guess they’re currently in the top three with a chance at the top spot.

4-star Texas LB impressed by Nebraska scrimmage

Four-star linebacker Tyanthony Smith also visited Nebraska football this weekend. The impressive Texas linebacker that’s 6-foot-1,190 pounds also has Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, and others are on his list but the Huskers made some headway here according to Huskers 247.

There were some positive tweets put out by the staff and I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but Nebraska football has been able to win some recruits quickly in Texas, so you never know.

Generally, you’d see another visit before a commitment, especially with a kid like Smith. Another visit will be important but overall, the Huskers took some steps in the right direction.
