The latest on a couple of four-star visitors that will check out Nebraska football this weekend from the 2024 recruiting class.

Nebraska football got some positive momentum this week on the recruiting trail with the commitment of Ashton Murphy. But that’s far from the only news when it comes to recruiting.

Also this week, Nebraska football extended an offer to an in-state recruit that is committed to Pittsburgh as the Huskers try to work towards a flip.

However, there was some more positive news for the Huskers as a pair of four-star defenders in the 2024 class will be visiting Lincoln this weekend.

One of those is four-star defensive lineman Jacob Smith. Smith is 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, and is ranked 230th overall according to the On3 Industry rankings. He visited Nebraska football earlier this spring along with his twin brother. This time, Jacob will be going by himself according to Bryan Munson of Husker Online, but it’s still a positive sign to get Smith on campus for the second time in a month.

Notre Dame is currently the leader according to the On3 prediction machine. Smith has taken a spring visit to Notre Dame, as well as visits to Alabama, Kentucky, and Nebraska. Smith is out of Cheshire, Connecticut.

Another Texas recruit to visit Nebraska

The Huskers will also host four-star linebacker Tyanthony Smith from Texas this weekend, at least according to a report from Will Turboff on Twitter.

Smith is a 6-foot-1, 205-pound linebacker out of Jasper, Texas. He’s ranked 292nd overall in the 2024 class via the 247 Sports composite rankings and is the 27th-best player in the Lone Star State.

When you look at the On3 prediction machine, it’s loaded with Texas teams in the recruitment of Smith. Texas A&M is the leader but Texas, Baylor, and TCU are all in the mix. Smith has also visited Alabama, USC, and Oklahoma in 2023, along with Texas, A&M, and Baylor.

The Aggies might have a slight lead, but things still feel pretty wide open. This first visit will be a chance for the Huskers to get involved and hopefully get him back for an official visit.

We know that Matt Rhule has strong ties to the state of Texas and we’ll see if he can work his magic with Smith, one of the top defenders from Texas in the 2024 class.
