The first official visit weekend is already paying off for Nebraska football as 2024 EDGE recruit Joseph Anderson has been projected to the Huskers.

There is some early buzz coming out of the nine official visitors Nebraska football hosted over the weekend and one visitor is already starting to trend with projections to land with the Huskers.

That’s three-star EDGE, Joseph Anderson. Just a few days ago, Anderson was unranked via On3. Now, he’s ranked No. 569 overall via the On3 Industry rankings, and after taking an official visit to Nebraska football this weekend, Sean Callahan and Bryan Munson of Husker Online have both projected him to be a Cornhusker.

And each did so with a confidence level of 70 on a scale of 100. Anderson is 6-foot-5, 210 pounds. He’s also a dynamic track athlete and according to his 247 Sports profile, he long jumped 22-6, as well as a triple jump mark of 47-3.25.

You can certainly see why Matt Rhule would be interested in the pass rusher out of St. Louis, Missouri.

What’s the competition look like?

Anderson has a pretty strong offer sheet and was a late add to the visit weekend, so it just seemed like Nebraska football was gaining momentum.

Iowa and Kansas also have official visits scheduled right now. Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State, and a number of other schools have offered, but it’s clear the Huskers have grabbed the lead. The On3 prediciton machine now gives them a better than a 95-percent chance to win his commitment.

Looking at his athletic profile, the best days certainly seem to be ahead of Anderson, although he definitely has pass-rush production too with six sacks and 54 tackles during the 2022 high school season.

Ideally, he would cancel the remaining visits and just commit to Nebraska. It might not work out that way, but there’s lots of positive buzz emanating out of Lincoln and there’s a chance it’s because they know Anderson is coming.
