Nebraska basketball continues to try and make noise in the transfer portal, and they are reportedly after another target. The program reportedly has the ‘highest bid’ for Arkansas transfer forward Trevon Brazile.
Brazile average 8.6 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per contest. The six-foot-nine forward shot 48.8% from the field and a 35.5% from beyond the arc in 2023.
One of his most memorable games of the season was back in November against Duke. He had a double-double in that contest, as he scored 19 points on six-of-nine shooting from the field and four-of-seven from beyond the arc.
When you look at the type of game he plays, he could fit the Nebraska basketball offense very nicely. He has the ability to shoot from the perimeter. He is also quick to the ball, and can space the floor. This is helpful in terms of inside scoring, as he can allow space in the paint for centers.
Inside the paint is where Brazile’s athleticism can really shine. He can drive and create contact with ease. He has a soft touch around the rim and can get into the paint at will.
This has been a busy offseason for Nebraska basketball. They have added several key players to replace departures such as Keisei Tominaga, CJ Wlicher and Jamarques Lawrence. Gavin Griffiths, Connor Essegian and Braxton Meah are three of the bigger names that Nebraska basketball has added in the last couple of weeks.
What could he bring to Nebraska basketball?
Adding a player like Brazile would provide a good complement to the players listed above, especially Meah. Brazile would give Nebraska basketball yet another athletic player, with athleticism being something they were missing last season. We saw the lack of athleticism rear its ugly head last season in the Big Ten Tournament. Brazile would fill the void.
It will be interesting to see if Nebraska basketball can land him. It’s one thing to have the highest bid for a player. It’s another thing to have him on the roster.
Whatever the case may be, it’s clear that Nebraska basketball is serious about landing impact players. One has to wonder what his price point is. Nevertheless, it’s encouraging that Nebraska has the highest bid at this stage of things. It shows they are serious about wanting to continue to build the program.
