Nebraska football is ‘dream offer’ for in-state recruit, plus more Cornhuskers news

Amarion Jackson is a name that Nebraska football fans need to know moving forward. The 2026 recruit is a dynamic wideout from Omaha and was recently on campus for the Huskers Junior Day in January.

At 6-foot-1, 190 pounds out of Millard South in Omaha, Jackson had a breakout season as a sophomore with more than 1,000 yards receiving with 57 receptions and 12 touchdowns. The talented in-state wideout has also started to get attention as a recruit from other Big Ten programs.

Illinois and Minnesota have extended scholarship offers and you wonder if Nebraska football would be next. Matt Rhule never likes to get beat out for in-state players and the Huskers tend to be among the first offers. They have shown interest in Jackson, but I’d like to see an offer sooner rather than later.

Jackson feels like a recruit who needs to be prioritized. He told Husker Online that an offer from Nebraska football would be a “dream.” He also said he plans to take in some Nebraska spring practices but also plans to visit Iowa and Oklahoma this spring.

Nebraska Cornhuskers open Big Ten women’s basketball tournament

The Nebraska women’s basketball team has a bright future. Natalie Potts won Big Ten Freshman of the Year, while Alexis Markowski, a junior, was named First-Team All-Big Ten. They will be joined by Britt Prince next season, who just earned an honorable mention as a Naismith All-American.

Yet, the Nebraska Cornhuskers still have plenty on the line this season. They will take on Purdue on Thursday afternoon (2 PM CST) in the second round of the Big Ten tournament. A win would send the Huskers to a matchup with fourth-seeded Michigan State on Friday.

The Huskers are projected as a No. 9 seed in the NCAA tournament according to women’s bracketology from ESPN, so Nebraska isn’t on the bubble, but a few wins could help improve their seeding ahead of the big dance.
