When it comes to recruiting, nobody should be surprised by anything. Nebraska football fans were reminded of that on Wednesday with the decommitment of Tay Ellis.

The three-star wide receiver, who moved to Omaha to play for Millard South, alongside Trae Taylor, decommitted from the Nebraska football program on Wednesday.

It wasn’t something people had on their radar. There has been chatter that the Huskers were looking for another wide receiver, maybe another recruit they could flip, along with Ahmad Hudson, if that happens.

That could be a reaction to Ellis decommitting. Who knows? Ellis has dropped about 400 spots in the rankings since his commitment. That’s not a suggestion that had something to do with it, but maybe Nebraska cooled on its evaluation. Maybe he didn’t want to be part of a bigger wide receiver class.

The only thing we know is that Ellis won’t be part of the Huskers 2027 class. Nebraska will likely replace him by flipping another prospect, so keep an eye out. The Huskers class is still ranked 16th and has a blue-chip percentage of 47 percent, which is actually higher than before Ellis decommitted.

A Big visit weekend is coming

Tim Verghese reported that the Huskers will have over 30 visitors from the 2027, 2028 and 2029 recruiting classes on campus for the Ohio game.

Nebraska volleyball sweeps South Dakota State

Another match and another 3-0 sweep for the Huskers. No. 1 Nebraska volleyball is now 3-0 on the season in regulation matches.

The Huskers have played 13 sets if you include “Spikes Under The Lights,” and so far, they have won all 13. Nebraska could have hit better (.267), but it doesn’t really matter when the opponent hits .011, as South Dakota State did in Brookings, South Dakota, on Wednesday.

Nebraska notched 10 blocks for the second match in a row. Teraya Singler continued her stellar season with 10 kills and a .320 hitting percentage. She also managed four digs and three blocks. Bergein Reilly finished with 32 assists, moving her into fifth all-time in Nebraska history with 3,817 assists.

The Huskers will play Dayton in Chicago on Friday at 5 CST. That match will be on Fox Sports 1. Nebraska volleyball will play Missouri on Sunday at Wrigley Field (8 PM CST, Fox).
