There are some key decisions from top targets coming in the next few days for the Nebraska football program, starting with four-star offensive tackle Claude Mpouma.

Mpouma first said that he was going to announce his decision on Sunday, June 29th (today). Yet, he also posted on X that it would come on Monday. 247 Sports has the commitment announcement scheduled for Monday, so don’t expect any fireworks today.

However, all signs are good as far as where the Huskers stand. They have continued to trend with expert projections across the recruiting sites.

There are even reports that Florida and Auburn have backed off, so unless something changes in the next 24 hours, Nebraska football will land the pledge of the 6-foot-7, 308-pound offensive tackle from the Chicago area, ranked No. 169 overall.

Other Nebraska football recruiting trends

Things aren’t trending in the direction of Nebraska when it comes to four-star safety Devin Jackson. The one-time Florida commitment visited the Huskers during the spring. He also took an official visit in June and is close to Danny Odem, a four-star cornerback committed to Nebraska.

There was hope that would lead to a commitment. However, Oregon was one of the top contenders. On Saturday, Steve Wiltfong of On3.com put in a prediction for the Ducks. Predictions aren’t commitments, but with a July 3rd decision date looming, Jackson to Oregon seems pretty certain.

Nebraska continues to be the favorite for three-star wideout Larry Miles. He’s ranked 500th overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, and it looks like the Huskers will win out. His decision date is July 1st between Nebraska, Kentucky, and Pittsburgh.

Four-star linebacker Calvin Thomas, who is ranked 254th overall, out of Cypress, Texas, released a final five that included North Carolina, Nebraska, Michigan, SMU, and Texas. He’s a dynamic athlete — a hurdler — who had 68 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and a forced fumble.

It feels like Texas is the favorite. But it’s hard to know how hard Michigan is pushing with Thomas and other linebacker targets. There haven’t been any crystal ball projections yet. A decision is coming on July 12th, so this is another recruitment to monitor.
