A Nebraska football top target, Cortez Mills, has made a change in his visit plans. He was originally going to visit the Huskers in late June. Now, the official visit will happen this weekend, during the spring game.
This is according to a report from Tom Loy of 247 Sports. Mills also has official visits scheduled with Florida, Clemson, and Miami. He also plans to take an official visit to Oklahoma.
This won’t be the first trip by Mills to visit Nebraska football. He took a trip to campus during the Huskers’ junior day. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound wideout is ranked 87th overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2025 class. He’s already got a crystal ball to Miami and they will be tough to beat for the Homestead, Florida prospect.
Nebraska did have an in with Mills due to Philip Simpson, who was an analyst with the Huskers before taking a job at Florida State. Yet, Mills is set to get on campus this weekend, which is really smart by Matt Rhule.
Cortez Mills visit is a great opportunity for Nebraska
Great receivers want to play with great quarterbacks. Mills will get to see what Dylan Raiola can do and hopefully, he walks away from that game wanting to play with Raiola in the future. Oklahoma, Miami, and Clemson don’t have that kind of quarterback. Florida probably does in D.J. Lagaway, but still, it’s a stroke of genius by Rhule.
It also gives Mills a chance to experience what a Nebraska football game will feel like. It’s going to be sold out just for the spring game. That’s going to be another selling point.
Plus, a bunch of other recruits are visiting this weekend. There will be other chances to get Mills on campus for a visit this summer and even in the fall for game. That’s how Nebraska wins this recruitment.
But allowing Mills to watch Raiola and take in the spring game could give them a momentum boost. It felt like the Huskers were falling off a bit, but now that they have two wideouts committed in 2025, it’s time to swing for the fences with Mills and that’s going to start with this weekend’s official visit.
