Nebraska football picked up a commitment from 2025 athlete Caden VerMass. He made the announcement on twitter.
VerMaas is not ranked in the 247Sports regular or composite rankings. He is projected to be a safety for the program.
VerMaas had two offers on the table, in Nebraska football and Iowa State. He was offered by the Nebraska football program last fall, and then re-offered by the current coaching staff. This is someone the program overall has done their homework on.
Right now, he measures in at 6 feet, 190 pounds. It is reasonable to expect him to grow, with two years of high school football still left on the table.
110% COMMITTED! Dreams to Reality‼️‼️ After a great talk with @CoachMattRhule I am excited to announce that I have decided to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Nebraska! ?⚪️??☠️ #GBR #RhuleEra @HuskerCoachTW @evancooper2 @MillardNorthFB @Omeezi_ pic.twitter.com/WGbe0PSQLx

What could he bring to Nebraska Football?
On the defensive side of football, he had 49 tackles and three forced fumbles for Millard North last season. He has the ability to play in the box, and is able to come up and make a tackle with ease. in the type of defense Nebraska football wants to run, athleticism and versatility are three things to look for. He certainly has that, and he specializes in defending the run.
Although he is listed as an athlete, defense would make the most sense for his collegiate football career. VerMaas has good instincts and always seems to be around the football on any given play. His ability to break to the football and identify the play is what really separates him at the safety position.
Getting the ball rolling for 2025
Currently, this is Nebraska football’s first commitment for the class of 2025. It will be interesting to see what other work this coaching staff does on the class, with the class itself still being a bit far away in terms of development. Nevertheless, this is a good get, and helps establish a local theme for a future class. This is also a major get in the sense that the coaching staff was able to finish what the previous regime had started with an impactful recruit.
