Looking ahead to the 2025 Nebraska football season, the Huskers are going to need a veteran defensive back and there is already one on their radar in the transfer portal.
Devin Neal, a former Baylor and Louisville defensive back, has entered the transfer portal, after playing four games this season for the Cardinals. Neal is 5-foot-11, 200 pounds. He’s played in five different college seasons but since he only played in four games this season, plus the COVID year, he’ll have one season of eligibility remaining.
According to Pete Nakos of On3.com, Nebraska football is one of the teams in contact with Neal already. During the course of his career, the defensive back has six interceptions, including four last season, 149 tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack, two forced fumbles, and seven pass breakups.
Illinois and Duke are two other teams in the mix. It’s still early though but the Nebraska Cornhuskers could have an EDGE with Neal. He played at Baylor during the 2020 season. That was one year after Matt Rhule left but Rhule likely recruited him.
Either way, it’s good to see Nebraska football being active. If you’re interested in our Ohio State coverage, here are our predictions, and objectives for the Huskers in this game.
