Dawayne Gallaway has been trending with projections to Purdue, but Nebraska football offered the four-star cornerback on Wednesday and the blue chip is already working on scheduling an official visit to Lincoln according to Bryan Munson of Husker Online.

Gallaway, who is out of Columbus, Ohio, is ranked 122 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, and is ranked 13th among corners. Ryan Walters, the head coach at Purdue, also knows cornerbacks, so if he’s pushing for Gallaway, you know the kid is legit.

However, Gallaway’s 247 Sports profile has a scheduled commitment date of July 5th. That won’t give Nebraska football much time to recruit the four-star cornerback before he announces. The date can always change though. He also told Husker Online he’s planning visits to Syracuse, Kentucky, and Penn State.

Knowing how Kentucky has recruited Ohio over the years, they could be a real factor in this recruitment. First things first, the Huskers need to get Gallaway to campus and go from there. It’s an intriguing offer though and one Nebraska football fans should pay attention to.

A slew of top targets cancel Nebraska football visits

Recruiting boards across college football are starting to get more clarity as recruits make commitments, take official visits, and in some cases, cancel their scheduled visits.

A few Nebraska football targets have done that this week. Reiman Zebert, the No. 5 in-state prospect in the 2025 class, did that. The 6-foot-6 three-star tight end then committed to Stanford soon after.

Maybe that’s a good sign in the recruitment of Chase Loftin, but it’s too early to tell. Another top target who canceled an official visit is Corey Simms. I crossed him off my board weeks ago, if not sooner, so this doesn’t surprise me at all.

There’s a reason Nebraska is still in the mix for four-star wideout Rahim Hutchins. I see them taking their shot with Cortez Mills, but if not, Hutchins would be a solid take. He also canceled a visit to another school this week.

6-foot-6, 265-pound defensive lineman Jaylen Williams also canceled his visit after committing to Michigan football earlier this week. That was the second four-star miss of the week for the Huskers.
