2024 defensive back Larry Tarver is visiting Nebraska football on October 28. This was reported by multiple media outlets.

Tarver is a four-star corner. He is the 57th overall player in the state of Florida, and the 37th overall player in his position per rankings from Rivals.com. He verbally committed to Maryland on June 27, after committing to FIU on April 23.

The Miami Gardens, Fla. native lined up on the outside at the high school level. He is on the smaller side at five-foot-11, 170 pounds. Nevertheless, he has very good instincts and quickness.

Nebraska football will need help on a secondary unit that is going to lose the likes of Quinton Newsome and Omar Brown. There is depth at the position for the future, headlined by Mario Buford. Evan Taylor should also be able to make an impact as well.

Currently, the 2024 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks fifth in the Big Ten according to Rivals rankings. They have five four-star commitments in the class. Tarver would certainly be a strong get even the need for depth in the secondary, and overall athletic ability.

Furthermore, lending Tarver would be another win in the state of Florida. Nebraska football has been able to land several players in the state during Matt Rhule’s tenure. They have clearly wanted to make Florida a state to focus on.

It will be interesting to see if anything comes of this visit.  Hopefully, Tarver will potentially consider Nebraska as a good fit. There is a need for him in Lincoln, especially with the expansion of the Big Ten coming shortly. Athletic defensive backs are going to be both needed and at a premium. Tarver certainly fits the bill in both aspects.
