Nebraska football is picking up steam with 2024 four-star running back Nathaniel Frazier. The California back ranks 14th overall running back in the 2025 class, and is the 22nd overall player in the class from the state of California per the 247Sports rankings.
Frazier indicated that Nebraska was high on his list following a visit last weekend. He also indicated that he was going to come back to Lincoln in order to see a game.
The bulldozing running back has great vision, and has physicality in addition to that speed. The back is more of an east-west runner, and that lends itself nicely to his game. He is able to get to the outside quickly, and immediately explode once he gets to the second level.
He expanded on why he loved Nebraska so much, and it involved a couple factors. For one, it seems like the Nebraska football coaching staff made a good impression on him. This is something we heard throughout the entire visit weekend last weekend from multiple recruits.
Obviously, he has a lot of interest from several other programs. He has offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Michigan State, Penn State, Texas A&M, and USC among other programs. Nevertheless, it seemed like Nebraska made a strong impression on him, as he told Greg Biggins of 247Sports.
“Man it was incredible,” Frazier said. “Coach Matt Rhule is unlike any other coach I’ve been around. He’s all about football but is even more about developing men. He loves the game but he really cares for kids first.
“He has a great staff that has been with him for years and you can tell they’re all loyal to each other. I love the RB coach, EJ Barthel. I like his coaching style, how he talks to his players and how he would utilize me in the offense.”
“Those fans are crazy,” Frazier said. “I love it, everyone there is all about Husker football. The game day environment’s are wild and I would love to get back for a game and I’m definitely considering them for an official visit too.”
Frazier would be a key recruit for a running back room that is going to be led by EJ Barthel. The fact that he speaks so highly of the fans also is a very positive sign. He understands what the fans mean to the program and vice versa. It will be interesting to see where this recruitment goes, with so many high-profile schools after him. Even still, it’s clear Nebraska is very much in the mix.
