Nebraska football has been working to find its top target in the 2026 class at quarterback. While many other top programs already have their 2026 quarterback in the fold, the Huskers don’t really have a true priority at the position.

That could be changing though. Dayton Raiola has been a name to know at quarterback in the 2026 class. He was offered soon after Matt Rhule became the Nebraska football head coach and has made numerous campus visits.

This weekend, Raiola, who is currently unranked according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2026 class, will take another visit to Nebraska football.

Raiola is listed at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds. He’s playing for Buford, Georgia, just like his brother, and if he’s able to win the starting job and excel, you can see his ranking start to rise.

The arm talent has always been there. There’s a reason Nebraska offered a couple of years ago. The rest of his body is developing, and the Huskers could get a diamond in the rough of sorts. Charlotte and App State are the only other FBS programs that have offered but that could change this fall.

Another 2026 quarterback is expected to visit this weekend and that’s composite four-star Jackson Taylor. Taylor is ranked No. 342 in the On3 industry rankings for the 2026 class and he’ll be in Lincoln too this weekend for the recruiting BBQ hosted by Nebraska football.

Taylor is out of Thousand Oaks, California. Auburn is the leader according to the On3 prediction machine. The QB has visited Auburn twice, but this will be his first trip to Nebraska.

Nebraska Cornhuskers in position for a flip

Nebraska football fans are hoping that five-star offensive tackle David Sanders will visit this weekend. There are rumblings that it could happen, but one 2025 target who will visit is four-star wideout Isaiah Mozee.

The four-star receiver is committed to Oregon. He visited Nebraska football last month for an official visit and his dad was just hired. Nebraska has five blue-chip commitments in the 2025 class right now, but Mozee would be the sixth and that’s something to watch.

Big Ten Media Days for Nebraska

Big Ten Media Days started on Tuesday. But the Nebraska Cornhuskers will take their turn on the stage on Wednesday at 12:30 PM EST. Matt Rhule will meet with the media but Ben Scott, Ty Robinson, and Isaac Gifford will also be in Indianapolis in what some feel is the unofficial start of football season.

Either way, the Nebraska football season is now just 38 days away.
