There is a new name to know when it comes to Nebraska football and 2024 quarterbacks.

We have been waiting for Nebraska football to start pursuing some other 2024 quarterbacks not named Dylan Raiola and there was some news on that front Monday night.

It turns out that Nebraska football will be hosting a three-star quarterback in June by the name of Kamari McClellan. McClellan said that he will be taking a visit to Nebraska. He also told Bryan Munson of Husker online that it’s going to be an official visit.

McClellan is ranked 704th overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, and is out of Pinson, Alabama. He’s also ranked as the No. 44 overall quarterback in 2024 and has a previous connection with offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield.

Satterfield recruited McClellan when he was at South Carolina. According to the On3 prediction machine, the Gamecocks are the leader still for McClellan, but they already have Dante Reno committed in 2024.

Auburn recently hosted McClellan for a visit. West Virginia and Oregon are some of the other schools that entered the mix with offers this winter, as well as Missouri, South Carolina, Florida State, and Georgia Tech. However, nobody is listed as “warm” according to his 247 sports profile and it’s not clear how hard South Carolina is recruiting him.

That leaves the door wide open for Nebraska football and with the prospects looking bleak with Dylan Raiola, this is a really good second option for the Huskers in 2024. It should be noted that Nebraska hasn’t offered McClellan yet.

Nebraska football not giving up on Dylan Raiola yet

Speaking of Dylan Raiola, the Huskers haven’t thrown in the towel yet. Bringing another quarterback to campus is a good sign, but Nebraska football also paid a visit to the five-star quarterback on Monday.

Coaches are able to get on the road and visit recruits again and the Huskers took advantage. Bob Wager got out and saw Carter Nelson, while EJ Barthel saw top targets Nathaniel Frazier and Brandon Baker.

Satterfield visited Raiola. It’s good to keep recruiting him until he tells you no. Nebraska should still try to get Raiola on campus for an official visit. Things have gone radio silent in his recruitment. He’s got just one official visit scheduled (to Georgia) which is why people are viewing him as a UGA lean.

We’ll see what happens, but Nebraska is starting to hedge at the quarterback position in the 2024 class, and with the way things are trending with Raiola, it’s probably a wise move.
