Dylan Raiola’s commitment changed the outlook of Early National Signing Day for Nebraska football.
Five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola eliminated any drama on Early National Signing Day for Nebraska football. There should still be some news, but Husker fans can rest easy.
Raiola announced his commitment on Monday and will be signing with the Huskers on Wednesday. He’ll enroll early, as will Daniel Kaelin and the battle for QB1 will be off and running.
In terms of Early National Signing Day, Nebraska football isn’t done just yet. The Huskers have a few targets still on the board. A lot of fans have wondered if there would be some surprise additions to the 2024 class.
We’ll address that and more with our predictions for Nebraska on Early National Signing Day.
Vincent Shavers will be N
In addition to Dylan Raiola and four-star linebacker Dylan Williams, Nebraska hosted Vincent Shavers, a talented three-star linebacker according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s ranked 550 overall and at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, is an intriguing prospect at linebacker.
Over the past two seasons, Shavers, who was a Miami commitment until last week, has been credited with 15 sacks. He also shown some flashes in pass coverage and runs a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash. Shavers could be a perfect fit for the JACK linebacker role or could even be an inside linebacker.
Either way, as his visit last weekend, a trio of crystal balls are projecting him to sign with Nebraska football, which he will announce one way or the other on Wednesday morning.
A Big Ten flip
Larry Tarver Jr. has also been trending to flip to the Huskers and I think that will finally happen on Early National Signing Day. Amare Sanders is still out there and could be a possibility.
However, Tarver, a Maryland commitment with dynamic ball skills, would be a nice recruiting win for the Huskers. The 5-foot-11 defensive back is also out of Miami. He’s ranked No. 976 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings, but he feels better than that. He’s a track kid with a sub-11 100-meter dash and his senior film is filled with highlights of him making interceptions and breaking up passes.
I don’t see Sanders and Tarver both in the class, so if the Terps hold onto the commitment of Tarver, Sanders could still wind up signing as part of the 2024 class.
No big surprises
I don’t see Dylan Raiola leading to some splashes on Wednesday — he was the splash. Yet, I do see Shavers and Tarver joining the class, but the recruiting impact of Raiola will be felt down the road, and potentially in the transfer portal.
Crazy things can happen, as we have learned over the past week. But my prediction is that Nebraska football signs all of its commitments, and outside of the recruitments we have mentioned here, I see a pretty ho-hum day for the Huskers, who already made waves by flipping Raiola on Monday.
