Nebraska football hosted its annual Pro Day on Wednesday and while there were former Huskers with a chance to get drafted that performed well, quarterbacks Dylan Raiola and Daniel Kaelin stole the show.
According to Sean Callahan of Husker Online, scouts were “marveled” by the arm talent of Dylan Raiola, which shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. There’s a reason he was ranked as the No. 1 quarterack for most of the 2024 class.
Raiola is big, strong, and has as much talent as any Nebraska football quarterback has ever had. Daniel Kaelin isn’t bad either though and he also impressed throwing for former Nebraska players taking part in workouts.
Matt Rhule said it was a great opportunity for the freshman, but it was also about “who was free” to be able to throw. In other words, don’t read too much into it as far as the starting job is concerned. Yet, I think we all know that the job is Raiola’s to lose.
Just a week after Trev Alberts left for Texas A&M, Nebraska hired his replacement, Troy Dannen, who was hired away from the University of Washington, a fellow Big Ten school.
I wrote on Wednesday that it was a big win for Nebraska football and I believe that to be true. Matt Rhule is “fired up” about the hire and Dannen has helped build winning programs before such as at Tulane, where he hired Willie Fritz.
It’s been a crazy week for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but it all worked out and that’s a credit to Chris Kabourek and Dennis LeBlanc. Husker nation owes them a debt of gratitude.
Nebraska baseball wins again, now 11 of 13
The Nebraska baseball team won its fifth straight game on Wednesday night thanks to a stellar showing on the mound by Will Walsh who didn’t allow a run in six innings of work. Walsh posted nine strikeouts in the win and improved to 2-0 on the season. Garrett Anglim led the Huskers at the dish with two hits and two RBI in the 3-1 win over North Dakota State.
Nebraska baseball is now 15-5 on the season. Next up for the Cornhuskers is a three-game home series against New Mexico State this weekend. The first pitch goes out Friday night at 6:05 PM CST.
