The Omaha magic continues for the Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team, or at least it did on Saturday, as the Huskers knocked off fourth-ranked Oregon and Penn State to advance to the Big Ten tournament championship game for the second year in a row.

That’s eight consecutive wins in the Big Ten tournament at Omaha. If the Cornhuskers can get one more against UCLA in the championship game, they will head back to the NCAA tournament.

That almost feels secondary to winning the Big Ten title again. It would be an incredible achievement, especially after all of this season’s ups and downs.

Gabe Swansen set the tone early against Oregon, blasting a two-run home run in the top of the first inning. Jackson Brockett recorded a quality start, allowing just one run in six innings of work.

Will Walsh got the save. Riley Silva was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Cayden Brumbaugh added two hits as the Huskers advanced to the semifinals.

In game two, Hogan Helligso put the Nebraska Cornhuskers in front with a two-run single. Penn State and Nebraska traded the lead back and forth before a Swansen homer put the Huskers up 6-3. That ended up as the final, and Nebraska will take on UCLA Saturday at 2 p.m. CST on the Big Ten Network.

For Nebraska baseball, it’s win or go home. Tyler Horn, who started against Michigan State earlier this week, is likely to get the ball on Sunday.

Super Regional winner-take-all

Nebraska softball dropped a 3-2 decision to Tennessee on Saturday, forcing a third, winner-take-all game for a berth in the Women’s College World Series.

The Huskers had runners on second and third in the seventh inning, but were unable to score the tying run. Jordy Bahl took her first career loss in NCAA tournament play after allowing three runs on four hits.

Bahl had six strikeouts. Karlyn Pickens got the win for the Vols. Both pitchers are 1-1 in the series, and each is expected to get the ball for Game 3.

One can only imagine the pressure on Bahl. Every Nebraska softball fan is pinning their hopes on the Nebraska Cornhuskers ace.

The offense is dangerous and has found success in this series. Nebraska’s bats will need to deliver. So will Jordy Bahl. The first pitch goes out at 1 p.m. CST on ESPN.
