If you have been following closely, you know that Nebraska football commitment Jeremiah Jones has been flirting with other programs, namely Missouri.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound athlete is one of the most intriguing prospects in the entire 2025 class. Nebraska football was able to land him over the summer but Missouri and other programs have continued to push.

Jones said he was fully committed after a recent visit to Missouri. However, Sean Williams, the Missouri insider for 247 Sports has logged a crystal ball projection for Jones to flip to the Tigers with 10/10 confidence —  meaning that insider is calling his flip a lock.

Bryan Munson of Husker Online reported Nebraska football was doing what it can to keep Jones, including looking at him more on the offensive side of the ball. Either way, as exciting as it would be to add a dude like Cortez Mills, losing Jones would be a huge blow, even as the No. 410 overall prospect.

Munson also reported this week that Aiden Manutai, a three-star defensive back committed to California, who plays safety, just like Jones, is visiting Nebraska football. A flip there is a strong possibility. If Jones does exit the class, Manutai would be there to take his spot.

Nebraska football could take both, especially if Jones could be a candidate to play offense, but there are at least other options in the secondary.

In-state rivalry basketball teams

For the first time since 1985, both Nebraska basketball teams will take on Creighton on the same day. Both games will be played in Omaha and it will be a big test for both Nebraska basketball teams.

Creighton is ranked 20th according to the Kenpom rankings. Nebraska basketball, the men’s team at least, is ranked 64th. The Huskers are 3-1 but in their first test against a top-50 opponent, they came up short losing to St. Mary’s at the Sanford Pentagon.

The Bluejays are 4-0 and led by Ryan Kalkbrenner who is averaging 25 points per game and eight rebounds. Steven Ashworth is another to keep an eye on. He averages 16 points per game and 3.3 3-pointers. Creighton has three others who average at least one 3-point field goal per game.

3-point defense hasn’t been a strength of Nebraska’s. Neither has 3-point shooting. Both will need to be on point and Nebraska needs to win the battle in the paint. They also need to keep the turnovers under 10.

Brice Williams and Juwan Gary will need to be stellar, but Braxton Meah and Berke Buyuktuncel will also have key roles to play around the rim.

Connor Essegian also needs to get going and you could say the same thing about Gavin Griffiths. The 3-point shots will need to fall if the Huskers are going to pull the upset as 11-point underdogs.

The game will tip-off at 7 PM CST on Fox Sports 1.

Nebraska women’s basketball takes on the Bluejays too

The Nebraska women’s basketball team will also do battle against Creighton. The Huskers are 34th in Bart Torvik’s rankings, while Creighton is 41st. Nebraska will also have to deal with the loss of Natalie Potts, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year who tore her ACL earlier this week.

Britt Prince the freshman standout, will need to step up. So will Alexis Markowski. Yet, Amy Williams’ squad has depth. It will be bested but Callin Hake scored 14 off the bench on Tuesday. Jessica Petrie also scored in double figures.

There are a few good options for Williams but this will easily be the most difficult test for Nebraska so far. Creighton was ranked 21st to start the season but dropped a game recently to Kansas State by 18. Loren Jensen and Morgan Maly combine to average 37 points and both are dangerous from 3-point range.

The women’s game will tip-off at 4 PM CST on Flo Sports.
