Pinch yourself if you need to, Nebraska football fans, but the Huskers will play in a bowl game this season following a 44-25 win over Wisconsin on Saturday that clinched a sixth win.

It’s still hard to believe that Nebraska football ever went eight years without qualifying for a bowl game. There are still plenty of milestones to cross off, the next being a winning season, which also hasn’t happened for the Huskers since 2016.

But now that Nebraska football is guaranteed to go bowling, let’s take another look at the bowl projections as we try to figure out where the Huskers will be playing in December or January.

Nebraska football bowl projections after Week 13

This Friday’s game against Iowa will definitely have an impact. Win that game, and the Huskers should move up the bowl pecking order in the Big Ten. They could even have a shot to play on New Year’s Eve in the Reliaquest Bowl.

As of now, some of the projections are all over the place which reflects the parity in the Big Ten. ESPN’s two projectors have Nebraska football going to the Duke’s Mayo Bowl and the Pinstripe Bowl.

Oddly, enough, both projections have the Huskers playing Georgia Tech — a team Nebraska hasn’t played since the 1991 Citrus Bowl.

CBS Sports has Nebraska playing one day after Christmas in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl in Phoenix, Arizona in a matchup with Texas Tech while College Football News has the Huskers in the Pinstripe Bowl against Syracuse.

Athlon Sports has Nebraska going to the Music City Bowl, which was the destination of their last bowl game. The opponent would be Ole Miss. That would be a fun game for Nebraska football fans.

A ranked opponent or just a strong opponent from a strong conference is preferable. The bowl game could be a chance for the Huskers to make a statement and build toward the goal next year, which is the “playoff” according to Dylan Raiola.
