Nebraska football was off last week but the Huskers still improved their bowl position according to the latest projections.

It was a bye week for Nebraska football last week, but the Huskers’ standing still improved in terms of a potential bowl game, as well as the Big Ten West.

I’m not sitting here chugging Kool-Aid believing Nebraska football is the best team in the Big Ten West. But have you watched the division play this year?

As a whole, it hasn’t been good. Iowa is 6-1 right now and their quarterback is completing 33 percent of his passes and averaging four yards per attempt. That’s not a joke. Tanner Mordecai might also be out for Wisconsin.

Iowa’s win over the Badgers also puts the Huskers one game back. Win the next two and things will get serious. These next two games against Northwestern and Purdue are also vital in the race for a bowl game.

Last week, four of the five projections we checked had the Huskers going bowling. This week, it’s 5/5, and here is where the Huskers are projected to go bowling after Week 7.

Nebraska bowl projections after Week 7

Last week, in the ESPN Bowl projections put together by Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura, only Schlabach had Nebraska football going bowling.

Now, both analysts have Nebraska going to a bowl game. One has Nebraska in the Quick Lane Bowl, while Bonagura has a fun matchup for the Huskers against Miami in the Pinstripe Bowl.

That would be a really fun historical game at Yankee Stadium. Brett McMurphy of the Action Network has Nebraska football projected to make the Guaranteed Rate Bowl for a potential meeting against Kansas.

College Football News has the Huskers going to the Las Vegas Bowl to square off against UCLA, and lastly, the projections from 247 Sports have Nebraska playing  BYU in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.

The Huskers need to go 3-3 in order to make that happen. The quest starts Saturday against Northwestern which is a 12.5-point underdog as of right now.
