Nebraska football quarterback Jeff Sims entered the transfer portal on Wednesday morning. This was reported by 247Sports Chris Hummer.

Sims came over to the Nebraska football program last offseason from Georgia Tech. The quarterback was thought to be one of the more productive signal callers in the transfer portal, ranking 16th in the On3 transfer portal quarterback rankings. He was also one of Matt Rhule’s first big-time gets in the transfer portal as Nebraska football coach.

Unfortunately, things did not work out for Sims. After beginning the season as the starting quarterback, injuries and inconsistent play derailed his efforts. He finished the season playing in five games, two starts at the quarterback spot. He went 28-of-47 through the air for 282 yards and a touchdown.

One of his more productive games came in the opener against Minnesota. He passed for 114 yards and had 91 rushing yards on 19 carries.

Sims has 1,746 passing yards and 1,341 rushing yards in his career.

His dual-threat ability was one of the strongest aspects of. His game. He was able to show that a little bit in Lincoln. Unfortunately, that consistency was never there for the entire season. Sims shared playing time with Heinrich Haarberg and Chubba Purdy last season.

Nebraska Football has plan at QB

Nebraska football seems to want to remake the quarterback room. They have already met with several high-profile quarterback this week, and more meetings will follow suit. It’s becoming very clear that the program wants to remake the quarterback room, with players that have experience and can help the Huskers win now.

Sims’ decision represents a shakeup as Nebraska looks to find impact playmakers. There are several high-profile quarterbacks in the transfer portal right now. It’s clear that the program wants to make a move to get one of those guys.
